On September 21, the Acton Chinese American Civic Society hosted a festival celebration with Chinese associates from Concord/Carlisle, Sudbury, and Weston in the First Congregational Church in Acton. Audience members and volunteers filled the hall; the atmosphere was festive and inclusive, with people smiling, exchanging greeting----all feeling excited and connected. Parents and children performed beloved Chinese traditional folk songs and dances to an attentive audience (Dani Feng).
Massachusetts State Senator Jamie Eldridge expressed a tremendous congratulations to this inaugural Mid-Autumn Moon Festival. He posted on his Instagram and Facebook, "the performances by people of all ages were fantastic, the moon cakes were delish."
Angel Performing Arts' (Angel Dance) Spring Rain team performed a beautiful group dance named Waves. Senior member Juliet Dong performed a classical Chinese dance called DianJiangChun that invoked the bittersweet emotions of ancient Chinese maidenhood. Junior members Anna Wu and Olivia Bao performed a classical dance medley Sorrow Lantern and Rising Lotus, that lit up the room immediately.
