(Michelle Liu, Juliet Dong and Annie Li) Angel Dance has been performing at the Boston First Night event for three consecutive years. On December 31st, 2024, 12 girls delivered two eye-catching sessions of Chinese folklore and classic dances.
The dancers created unforgettable memories before marching into the new year. Some portrayed butterflies, peacocks, or opera starlet, while some reenacted stories like those of Mulan. One carried bowls on her head, and all twelve wonderfully showcased the beauty of Chinese classic dance.
At the end of the second session, little boys and girls of the audience were invited to join the dancers in an interactive dance session.
The performance by the Youth League of Angel Dance was highly celebrated by the crowd and has become a highlight of the new year celebration in Boston City Hall, drawing many to revisit the City Hall who were fascinated by the uniqueness and beauty of Chinese dance. The Boston Globe also featured the dance by Chloe Liu of Angel Dance
Following their performances, the dancers participated in the Boston First Night parade. In Angel Dance’s signature white coats and red scarves, the girls led the way for the giant light-up sign illuminating “Happy New Year” in traditional Chinese characters. The parade traversed a distance of over one mile from Boston City Hall to Boston Common, with cheering onlookers throughout.
At the end of the parade, the dancers were rewarded with the beautiful fireworks display above the Common. Truly, an amazing New Year’s Eve evening for Angel Dance and the city of Boston.
